For 20 years, Dennis Nuss has done the quiet, consistent work that keeps customers coming back: showing up, paying attention, and treating every stop like it matters. CITY Laundering is proud to celebrate Dennis Nuss, Route Service Representative, on two decades with the company.
Before becoming the dedicated RSR for Route 18, Dennis spent many years as a Route Skipper, stepping in wherever needed to ensure customers continued receiving the high level of service they expected from CITY.
Ask Dennis what has stayed with him since day one, and he goes straight to the people.
“What stands out the most from 20 years ago was how welcoming everyone at CITY was, and how well I was trained to succeed and provide great customer service,” Dennis shared.
That early focus on service has been the through line of his whole career, even as the job itself has changed around him.
“I would say the biggest change is the delivery vehicles. It’s a huge difference going from step vans to straight trucks,” Dennis said.
“But what hasn’t changed is the focus on customer service being a top priority.”
For Dennis, great service comes down to consistency and to solving problems before they can grow.
“I think what customers appreciate the most is the consistency of the service they receive. And if an issue comes up about anything, I address it right away and try to solve the issue right away,” Dennis said.
He is just as clear about what separates a good Route Service Representative from a great one.
“What makes a great RSR is being friendly and getting to know the customers, and engaging in conversation with them about everyday life. Not just about delivering uniforms and mats,” Dennis said.
“Also, attention to detail is a great asset to have.”
Twenty years on a route also comes with a few stories you do not forget.
“Well, I got bit by a dog once, but luckily it didn’t break the skin,” Dennis said.
When he looks back on his career, though, what he is proudest of is something that speaks to his reliability.
“What I’m most proud of is my attendance record. I’ve only called in sick one time in 20 years,” Dennis said.
And his advice for the next generation of Route Service Representatives is exactly what you would expect from someone who has built two decades on doing the job right.
“The best advice I would give is to take your time on the route, be thorough, and focus on customer service,” Dennis said.
That reliability is exactly what stands out to the people who work with him. Randy Jipson, Route Supervisor, has known Dennis for years.
“I have known Dennis for many years, and the great thing about Dennis is that if he says he is going to do something, you can trust that he will get it done. He is reliable, dependable, and he does a great job listening to his customers, which helps him provide the best service he can to his customers,” Randy shared.
Congratulations, Dennis, on 20 years. Thank you for the consistency, the care, and the countless routes run right. Here’s to everything still ahead.
